A year ago I installed some gutter guards from COSTCO. Easy installation, but now I have spent more effort cleaning the guards than I used to spend cleaning the gutters. The problem is there is so much tree debris that it chokes the mesh that guards the gutters.
FAIL.

Nobody could have seen that coming

My biggest problem isn’t leaves or branches, it’s pigeon poop. Stupid neighbor feeds a giant flock of pigeons who then roost and poop on my roof. My gutters then fill up with bird manure which then allows plants to grow. Even small trees occasionally. Not sure that a gutter guard would keep poop out. I have a pellet rifle but haven’t had a chance to get it sighted in properly, plus I’d need to time it so my neighbor never ever saw me shooting the stupid pigeons.

Sounds like your neighbor should be cleaning your gutters.

The mesh ones aren’t any good with oaks. Not because of the leaves, but the pollen & debris that is so fine it clogs the mesh .I just get up on a ladder & blow them off with the pressure washer, once a year. Actually, it’s on the list for this wkend..
I also made a flap in the gutter guard & a hardware clothe filter to keep anything large enough from getting through the cracks & clogging downspouts.
