UAE contributions to “science”

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is planning (in the loosest sense of the word) to build a colony on Mars.

If it is anything at all like everything else built in the UAE, it will be built by Chinese and Dutch engineers, American scientists and Philippine and Pakistani laborers.

The 100-year plan will involve scientific research programmes to nurture national cadres specialised in space sciences at universities in the UAE

Oh.  Never mind.  It’s a hundred year program.  That means it is pure fantasy.  As such, Gulf News should not have even run the story.  It isn’t news.  It isn’t even science fiction.  It’s people who have never invented a steam engine talking about interplanetary space travel.
