Arts and crafts: chess set

Had some time on my hands….  made this.

The Knights were the toughest.  The board is heavy gauge, 12×12 steel and the bottoms of each piece have plastic magnets glued on.  Kings and Knights are .308. Queens are 30-30. Bishops, 5.56.  Rooks are .45ACP.  Pawns are 40 S&W.   Paint on the brass is acrylic nail polish.  The paint on the board is several layers of Rustoleum after prepping the surface with Brake Cleaner to degrease it.

And the reverse side…

The base is a plastic box with magnets on top with just enough room for the pieces and dice.   I made extra pawns for the backgammon pieces.

Not Legal in Washington DC.  Seriously.  Possession of ammunition or “parts of ammunition” there are a crime.  Good thing I live in Virginia, where we call these things “scrap metal” instead of calling them controlled dangerous weapons.

You could probably sell a bunch of those although by the time you figured out your break even point (much less a reasonable profit margin) I doubt most of us could afford one………………;-(
    Still outstanding work!
